Add 1000 steps to your step count

Try these easy solutions to Rev-up your daily step count without turning your life upside down.

No matter if you're new to wearing a pedometer or a seasoned walker counting steps will become contagious. Before you know it, you'll be checking to see just how many steps you've taken and wanting to add more.

Ideas to add 1,000 extra steps to your day;

Make the cordless phone your friend
Walk and Talk during your telephone conversation. Most modern cordless phones allow the handset to move 20-100 meters away from the base station. Continue your chat outside while walking in your garden or get up out of your office chair and walk around your desk.
Quick tip: On average, we take between 80-120 steps per minute. A 10-minute walk 'n talk just might give you the extra 1,000 steps in one go!

Coffee on the Go
Picking up your morning coffee or freshly squeezed juice is an ideal opportunity to find more steps. Tomorrow walk a little further down the street to the next cafe on the block, perhaps there's a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.

Trade your high heels for walking shoes
Keep a pair of sports shoes at your desk, slide them on when you leave work and take a brisk walk to the train or bus stop. If you drive the car, take the stairs not the lift to the correct level where your car is parked.
Quick tip: By having a pair sport shoes handy you'll be twice as likely to active. Plus you avoid blisters.

Re-energise with a lunchtime walk
Don't be bound to your desk for lunch, head outside for a 10 -20  minute walk. It will clear your head, increase blood flow, plus add more steps to your pedometer.
Ask a colleague to join you, you might be surprised how many other lunch time walkers you'll meet.

Volunteer to run an errand
Collect the mail, pick up the dry cleaning or simply be the one who helps empty the waste paper bins or refill the photo copier with paper- get you but moving.

What Our Members Say

Usually I do all my walks with pram and toddler. Having just started the drop a jeans size challenge, I thougth the interval walking might be hard that way, as it keeps your eyes glued to the clock and not the toddler for 20 minutes, so three times a week I now do my walking at the gyms treadmill which also makes for a nice change.
