How to fit walking into your dayOpportunities are around every corner; try these tips to add extra steps to your day.

8 Ways to Squeeze Walking Into Your Busy Daily Schedule

Tip 1. Create Extra time - Set your alarm for 45 minutes earlier than normal in the morning for 3 time a week. That way you get your walk over and done with and have the rest of the day for other things.

Tip 2. Stairs, Stairs, Stairs - Always take the stairs instead of elevators or escalators.

Tip 3. Car parks - Park your car in the furthest car park space from your office doors or Shopping mall entry.

Tip 4. Involve your kids - get out there after school with your kids on their bikes, roller blades or down to the local park with the footy.

Tip 5. Lunchtime - Every lunch time take 10 minutes to walk around the block whether you are at home or at the office. (Grab a work mate to come with you for company).

Tip 6. Picking Kids up - Instead of waiting in the car after after-school sports etc, do a couple of quick laps around the Schools playing field.

Tip 7. Promise to your dog - Make a commitment that you will take your dog for at least 3 longer walks a week.

Tip 8. Take your walking shoes to work - Before jumping in the car to come home, take a 20-minute walk. (Especially good in winter when the evenings are darker).

Every minute counts!
As a rule of thumb we average around 80-120 steps a minute during everyday activities. Find a minute or two of walking every hour and you'll reach your daily activity and pedometer step goal in no time at all.

What Our Members Say

It being 1 May today the Easter Hunt Challenge is well and truely over. I thoroughly enjoyed the 28 days of walking to and in the various levels. A great idea and so achieveable as it lasted "only" 28 days. I got to level 4 and a few eggs - I am happy. Thanks Kate & Team for yet another entertaining challenge to keep us on our feet.
